Sustainability Focus
As an engaged and concerned gen-xer, I have decided that it is time to take action to create a more sustainable world. As Aramis Advisors celebrated its first anniversary, it was time to create, test and develop new sustainable initiatives even at our own small scale.
Since I launched Aramis in early 2021, I have been planning to weave sustainability in the fabric of the company and into the support we bring to our clients. A sustainability certificate program with International Institute for Management Development (IMD) really helped me structure my thoughts and design an approach that I hope to continue refining as we progress.
In order to be efficient and impactful, Aramis will be focusing on four main issues:
- Diversity and inclusion (with a focus on age-inclusivity, in particular seniors as defined by individuals who are 50+) (UN sustainable development goals 4,5 and 8)
- Economic Viability ( UN sustainable development goals 8, 12 and 17)
- Social Impact (UN sustainable development goals 1,2,3 and 4)
- Protecting the environment (UN sustainable development goals 13, 14 and 15)
Aramis devised three comprehensive strategies to address these issues:
1. Strategy 1: Sustainable Operational Practices: develop and standardize sustainable operational practices such as buying recycled material instead of new ones (phones, computers), using public transportation or shared rides whenever possible, as measures to protect the environment as well as hiring / working with consultants who are 50+ in priority for diversity & inclusion. This will also include considering and applying to a number of sustainability programs or certifications in these domains.
2. Strategy 2: Sustainable Consulting Framework: Embed sustainability in the work we do for our clients by developing a sustainability assessment framework as well as modifying our top line growth development approach to include not only profit but also people and planet.
3. Strategy 3: Sustainability Innovation Lab: Open a sustainability innovation lab concept that will provide Aramis and its partners an opportunity to experience and learn firsthand from sustainable and circular ventures through investment and sponsoring, as well as from pro-bono mentoring social impact ventures. The approach here follows a lean and agile framework similar to typical innovation projects.
